Toll Collection suspension across India due to Covid-19

Toll Collection suspension across India till April 14th, 2020. Union Minister: In view of Covid-19, it has been ordered to temporarily suspend the collection of toll at all toll plaza across India. This will not only reduce inconvenience to the supply of the emergency services but also save critical time.

Subject; – Tolling operation in view of the COVID-19 epidemic in the country – regd.

Sir,
It is in reference to NHÅI letter dated 25.03.2020 wherein directions have been sought regarding continuation of tolling operation on fee plazas of NHAI in light of the COVID-19 epidemic.

2. Your attention is further drawn to the para 4 of Annexure of Ministry of Home Affairs vide Order No- 40-3/2020-DM-I(A) dated 24th March 2020, which says that Commercial and private establishments shall be closed down for a period of 21 days w.e,f. 25.03.2020 for containment of COVID-19 Epidemic in the country.

3. Therefore, NHAI should take actions necessary far compliance as per Para-4 of the Annexure of Ministry of Home Affairs vide Order No. 40-3/2020-DM-I(A) dated 24th March 2020 and the prevailing condition may be treated as Force Majeure of the Concession/ Contract Agreement as per the Ministry of Finance, Department of Expenditure Memo No.F.18/4/2020- PPD dated 19th February 2020.
